Study Desk

Sydney Blue Gum & Spotted Gum

My intention for my HSC Major Project was to construct a timber study desk. For my studies in the future (hopefully university), I wanted to have a wide space where my books and other study equipment can stay. One of the main features of the desk was constructing a Herringbone tabletop, which would be aesthetically appealing and be the main feature of my Major Project. This project was constructed using a combination of Sydney Bluegum for the frame and Spotted Gum for the herringbone top.

I will be taking my study desk with me wherever I go to university, to be inside my rental house. There are many purposes for a study desk, meaning there won’t be a time where it won’t be needed in a house. I wanted it to also be aesthetically appealing in whatever style of house it goes in and also ensure it included a range of functional features such as drawers and cupboards. To add to the overall high-quality finish of the project I included soft close fitting and the desk was finished using Odie’s Oil.
