Trailer
Trailers are a very useful and arguably quite essential thing to have, hence why I decided to build one for my major design project. Trailers make it possible to transport anything, from waste items such as something you would want to take to a dump or tip, to furniture that needs to be transported to a new place, or even smaller vehicles such as quads or motorbikes when you want to have some fun. This project will be very beneficial for me as my family currently doesn’t have a trailer to transport things such as those I just stated.
For my design I intended to solve the issue of wheel hubs getting in the way and also the problem of needed to remove sides if the object you are carrying is wider then the trailer. My solution to these problems was to have a flat bed trailer which meant it didn’t have wheel arches. I ensured the project still had a heavy load capacity by ensuring the suspension and also wheels were suited to a high load capacity. To solve the issue of needing to remove the sides, I increased the width and made them fold inwards. By folding the sides inwards it created a flat base in the bottom of the trailer and meant that the sides do not need to be removed.
