Butchers Table
Spotted Gum
For my Major Design Project, I intended to design and manufacture a Butchers Table which will be featured in our barbecue area. This table will be sturdy because it is going to be used for a lot of things regularly. It contains several storage options such as, shelves and drawers. I also intend to make some hooks around it for particular purposes for example, to hang small knives and other butchery accessories. This table will be used for a number of activities within the barbecue area such as cutting meat, vegetables and other types of food ingredients.
The majority of timber for this project was sourced and milled by myself from local hardwood. The frame, tabletop and shelf were all sourced locally and are a main feature of my project. The drawers were produced using spotted gum. To add to the rustic appeal and overall strength and durability of the table, it is held together using a range of joining methods combined with bolts for added stability. The table includes two drawers on full extension runners and the recycled drawer handles were sourced from our property. The table has been finished in outdoor oil to add to the quality of the end product and ensure in longevity.
