Dining Table
Hardwood
For my Major Design Project, I intended to create a resin river dining table with timber slabs and unique designed legs. Some of the features included the use of black resin river through the middle of the two slabs of timber, solid timber legs, coated in odies oil to match the timber top. I wanted to create this project as there is a big market for these products, and I wanted to create something that I could be proud of and keep forever and show my kids and family what I achieved when I was at school. I also want to produce this product as I think they are clean and unique and can be used for everyday occasion without being a waste of space.
The purpose of the table is to be used to host breakfast, lunches and dinners and hold plates, cutlery and drinks. It is also used for socialising and bringing people together to unite. The legs of the table create stability with elegance and style whilst the resin river brings a sense of calmness to the table. The resin river tabletop also draws attention to the unique style of the table but with simplicity for decoration if the owner wishes to decorate. The tabletop and legs required significant time demands and included a range of processes to ensure the highest quality. The finish of the table was used to highlight the natural features of the timber while the use of epoxy resin produced a feature throughout the tabletop. The timber legs were produced from Brushbox and the top was sourced locally from a hardwood slab.
