A little magic goes a long way
By Kirsty Hails, The Yellow Cottage Preschool Director
At The Yellow Cottage we enrich our regular program regularly with both incursions and excursions. These activities give children an opportunity to learn through new and different experiences. These special incursions and excursions take learning beyond the classroom. They are an important part of what we offer and add to our philosophy of connections and wellbeing.
On Thursday we had JD’s World of Magic visit us with his performance called “I Like Me” that teaches the children that each person is unique and special. We also had Pirate Pete visit us on Wednesday with his show about life as a Pirate.
The Yellow Cottage was filled with the sound of children laughing. Joel brought his magic tricks but the real magic was in the smiles he brought to the children’s and big children (teachers and parents) faces. Pirate Pete also brought his cheeky sense of humour and had us all laughing. All that giggling is good for the soul.
“There’s nothing more contagious than the laughter of young children; it doesn’t even have to matter what they’re laughing about.” ― Criss Jami, Killosophy
