Mrs Katherine Davidson took a group of our Years 7 and 8 girls down to Bill Rose Complex this week for a session run by Cricket NSW to teach cricket skills to Stage 4 (Years 7 & 8).  There was a great deal of excitement from our girls, many of whom were trying the sport for the first time.
We joined forces with St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen to learn skills and then split into 3 teams from each school and played a round robin of 6 games each, culminating in a final against St Joseph’s which our Year 8 girls won.
We were blessed with good weather and the enthusiasm of the girls was contagious.  A big thank you to Jim MacCallum who came in to help umpire and coach the girls. It was a great opportunity for them to learn something new. Cricket NSW have created this Initiative to develop Women’s Cricket and we’re hoping to be able to create a Girls’ Cricket side later this year.
