Our Junior Secondary Cricket Team played The Armidale School (TAS) earlier this week in the first round of the Wiburd Shield at TAS in Armidale.  The team was made up of 12 players from Years 7-9 with 11 on the field.  This is a mixed competition of boys and girls, with our current team being made up of boys. They were thrilled to take out a big win, bowling TAS out for 56.

SGS won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opening bowlers,Josh C and Cal W were impressive and took the first 5 wickets in quick fashion. Everyone bowled and fielded well and we chased down the runs in 10 smart overs with Peter M and Matt E scoring 24 each.

Thanks to Rev’d Nate Atkinson and Mr Darren Crowther for taking the team up to Armidale for the day and to supportive parents for bringing the boys to school for an early start – the bus left by 6.30am and returned about 12 hours later.  A long day for a great result.  This will take our team to the next round of the Wiburd Shield.
