The HSC results were excellent with many special celebrations. A cohort of diverse students brought their unique strengths to their learning. The Year 12 group of 2020 achieved 11 Band 5’s or 6’s, representing 26% of the HSC course results.

It is important for us to recognise and congratulate the achievements of all our students. As a school we are very proud of the results across a wide range of subjects and the many students who have been offered places in university courses. The majority of our students are enrolled in their dream course or apprenticeship and any who aren’t directly enrolled in their dream course are already on a path to their chosen career.

Ruby Wong was our Dux with an ATAR of 98.55. We congratulate her on an outstanding result which showed her dedication and talent. Jessika Pickett also achieved an ATAR over 90 with a 95. These are outstanding results and we congratulate both students.

I would also like to acknowledge the dedication and care shown by the staff in supporting the students to achieve their best.

Some, not all universities offer early entry. Courses which can be secured through early entry are based on a school reference and some require a minimum HSC and/ or ATAR to be achieved. Students apply and are notified of early entry (conditional) success prior to HSC results being issued.

This year, Ruby Wong achieved our top ATAR, followed by Jessika Pickett who also achieved an extremely high ATAR of 95. Students access their ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) by logging into the UAC (Universities Admissions Centre) website. The ATAR rank provides an indication of the overall position of students across the state. A higher ATAR gives preference to that student for their preferred university course.

Students who achieved a Band 5 or 6 for their subjects made up 26% of the HSC subjects completed by Scone Grammar School students in 2020.

Ruby Wong was our 2020 HSC All-Round Achiever and DUX. All-round Achievers list the students who achieved a result in the highest band possible (Band 6 or Band E4) in 10 or more units of courses in their current pattern of study. We congratulate Ruby on an outstanding result, which showed her dedication and talent.

The HSC Distinguished Achievers list is released each year and this lists the students who achieved a result in the highest band (Band 6 or Band E4) for one or more courses. Ruby Wong achieved an E3 in Extension 2 English and E4 or Band 6 for all of her other subjects; Jessika Pickett achieved four Band 6s and Hayley Cook achieved a band 6.
