Our Primary Athletics (Inter-House) Carnival took place last week. Students from Years 3 through to 6 participated in: 100m; 200m; 400m; relays; Long Jump; Discus; and Shot Put.
Wherever possible, we plan to incorporate our four pillars to contribute to our Positive, Flourishing Learning Community. On days such as our Athletics Carnivals, each of these pillars are important. Grammar Plus is about trying new activities and giving everything a go. Today our relay teams changed over surgical gloves instead of battens! Grammar Minds helps to strengthen learning muscles. There are so many to choose from. Imitation helps to improve technique. A relay couldn’t happen without collaboration, and so on. Grammar Cares involves caring for each student. In this context, it is about offering encouragement and supporting students to embrace these opportunities.
Many Leaders are needed to collaborate to ensure an athletics carnival runs smoothly to give all our athletes an opportunity to participate and enjoy the day. Supported by our Grammar Leads pillar, this is about developing Leaders to support our community. This year we want to thank our Year 10 students for working with our Primary and Sports Teachers to co-ordinate the carnival. They took on a variety of roles: Marshalls: Time Keepers; Judges; Recording; and co-ordinating each of the Field Events. It’s been wonderful to witness their leadership qualities throughout the day and words of encouragement to our younger students.
