A big shout out to Scone Cricket Club for receiving Volunteer Club of the Year at the 19th Annual Cricket Awards Evening last Friday 23 April.  We’re grateful to Scone Junior Cricket and Cricket NSW for all the time and effort they contribute to growing cricket in the Upper Hunter Community.  The Scone Junior Club competition provides a great opportunity for many of our students.

In particular, Cricket NSW have provided great resources to help students to learn cricket skills.  In September last year, our girls in Years 7-10 participated in a Gala Day run by Cricket NSW.  The girls really enjoyed the competition and the majority went onto join a new Girls Cricket League competition that Scone Cricket Club introduced last season.  This league of six girls’ teams is the largest girls cricket league in the country.

Well done to Darren Crowther, President of the Scone Cricket Club, Katherine Davidson (Registrarand Tracy Lambert (Secretary) who all work at Scone Grammar School (SGS), along with Peter Crowe (Vice-President) whose wife, Anita also teachers here at SGS and Brett Hails (Treasurer) who is also President of our Scone Grammar School Foundation.  Serving the community is part of our Scone Grammar School Christian foundation and it is wonderful to see our staff working together to contribute to the greater community in the Upper Hunter.
