Scone Grammar School students are able to participate in the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award Programmes at School. Participation by the students is voluntary. Those attempting the awards are encouraged to learn through experience and to enjoy themselves in the process, but a degree of self-discipline, enterprise and effort is a basic requirement.

Expeditions are organised by the School to The Barrington Tops National Park. Some of these expeditions take place during school term time and some during holidays and weekends. Students are encouraged to be independent and assess all risks. Students are supervised “at a distance” so that the group can make decisions whilst on expedition. A member of staff and parents accompany all expeditions.

The Bronze and Silver Award programmes comprise four mandatory sections: Service, Skills, Expedition and Physical Recreation. The Gold Award has, as well as the above four, an additional requirement of a Residential Project Service, Skills, Expedition and Physical Recreation.
